For banks and brokers, cash and equivalents includes reserves held at central banks and balances funded by customer deposits. It is cash on the balance sheet, but it is not a corporate cash reserve in the sense an industrial company's is — the two are not comparable, even though both are reported under the same line.

BP (BP) tops the list with $36.6B in cash for fiscal 2025, ahead of Shell ($30.2B) and Totalenergies ($26.2B). The top 10 together report $135B in cash; the gap between #1 and #10 is ×9.84. 134 companies in Energy report cash, 4.7% of the 2832-filer universe. The last place on the list, Greenfire Resources, comes in at $30.7M.
